Guitars make sweet music at auction

There was sweet music at Great Western Auctions as Luke Manning sold guitars and other musical instruments from the collection of Jimmie MacGregor MBE musician, writer and broadcaster.

The star of our sale on 6th September was lot 494, a CF Martin and Co Nazareth D28 Dreadnaught acoustic guitar circa 1945 which sold for £11,592 Including buyer’s premium.

Lot 494: Sold £11,592

Auctioneer Luke Manning says: "We take great pleasure in offering important collections at Great Western Auctions. I was particularly impressed with Jimmie’s Martin guitars to include lot 492 the late 19th century parlour guitar made in New York, a rare and historic instrument with a beautiful antique patina. An impressive turn out at the auction house meant there were strong bids from the room as well as online bids from International collectors.”
