Another highly successful sale of Books, Manuscripts & Maps at Great Western Auctions realised an overall total of over £47,000*, with a sell-through rate of 99% across the 143-lot catalogue.

The undoubted star of the auction was an album of Thomas Annan’s iconic Victorian Glasgow slum photographs, which sold for £17,360* after a lengthy contest between two determined overseas telephone bidders and another online.

This marked a new house record for a book at Great Western Auctions, topping a three-volume set of Chapman’s Homer sold at £16,740* in 2023.
