A MAHOGANY AND BRASS ACHROMATIC STEREOSCOPE SLIDE VIEWER BY SMITH, BECK & BECK OF 6 COLEMAN St., LONDON
Housed in a velvet-lined leather fitted case, with interior compartment opening to reveal a series of views, largely of an Aberdeen/North-East interest.
Included with the lot is a further set of slides titled The Underwood Travel Library: India, Volumes I and II, housed in a case modelled on books.

More Information

Case lacks carry-handle. Joints of lid are split at various points and one side panel hangs loose from the leather covering. Leather heavily marked, worn and discoloured, with losses/tears in a number of places. Viewer generally good, though with a crack to the mahogany near to the depth adjuster knob. One eyepiece sits loose in the wooden housing. Mirror plates generally mottled. Minor surface wear elsewhere, with some more pronounced wear to exposed edges. Some deterioration to leather grip handle at flex points.
Views of India slides - case is dirty and worn, with cloth covering peeling at seams. Slides are all bowed inwards but the prints are, on the whole, in good, clean condition.
