James "Jimmy" Smith (24th Sept. 1911 - 5th Dec. 2003) began his professional career with East Stirlingshire in 1928. Transferring to Rangers five months later, he would remain with the club until his retirement from the game in 1946. A prolific goal scorer, Smith is named 12th in the all-time rankings of Scottish footballers by number of League goals, with 241 over 249 games.

Provenance: Smith's nephew, thence by family descent.
