“Sweet Music” at Great Western Auctions sale on Saturday 2nd November.
40 fab guitars go under the hammer including a selection from the collection of John Calcutt.
Our Friday viewing day was just like a jam session at a cool venue with musicians (including a couple of celebs) plucking the strings to test the guitars. It was a party!!
Our Music department which encompasses everything from antique orchestral instruments to modern and vintage guitars was well represented in Saturdays fortnightly Antiques and Collectables Sale.
A great favourite with the buyers was a Martin Acoustic guitar sold for £1350
However the star of the music section was an orchestral violin with bows and sold for £5,200.
Not to be forgotten of course, for the cool set, was a collection of vinyl records sold for £550.
Vinyl is hot in today’s market. Hi tech is turning on its head and there is great interest in vinyl records for that authentic sound and the nostalgic “birl” down memory lane (Now is the time to dig out your forgotten vinyl record collection and hotfoot them down to Great Western Auctions).
