Sale Highlights 16th March 2013

This sale was the penultimate before our good quarterly sale on the 30th of March. Amongst the lots that performed well was lot 300 a Horikawa tinplate space station in original box which sold for £580. As ever the term mint and boxed are the ideal buzz words for the keen collector.

Militaria is always a good seller at auction and Lot 375 A German helmet Luftschutz (Air raid service) made £300.

Likewise good ephemera has a strong global following i.e. Interesting letters, documents, postcards and autographs.

Lot 219 an autograph album including Henry Woods, Dicksee and Lord Falkland brought £300.

Another interesting item was Lot 254 a group of enamel bus company badges that produced £170.

The jewellery section and gold continues to be the best performing area within our sales.

Keep an eye on our next Fine sale. We have two viewing days the 28th and 29th with the sale on the 30th at 10am.

This has a good Asian Arts section, jewellery, paintings, furniture and works of art. One Easter related lot that might catch the eye is 802A The fourteen Stations of The Cross. These date to around 1900 and are made of painted plaster within, moulded oak frames. We look forward to seeing you at the sale.

Auction 2nd March 2013:

This sale produced the usual broad mixture of material.

Amongst the more notable lots we had on offer were 286 a marine compass in case which sold for £1400.

One of the surprises in this sale came from a lot comprising approx. 550 glass picture slides. They dated from the 19th century onwards and included entomolgy, railway and children’s stories and in fact all sorts of topics, this realised £1300.

A popular lot was 233, thirteen printed theatre posters ranging in date from mid-19th to early 20th century.

One that caught my eye was a Glasgow Panopticon poster, which read Pickards December 22 ,1913. Acts included J.KMcFarlane, Shanlon Bros, Under Two Flags Carpenter versus Wells (Boxing match), Law & The Lady, Plumber & Lunatic (Dramas).

The lot produced £580.

The jewellery section continues to produce very healthy results for our sellers. Keep an eye on our Fine sale on the 30th of March.
