A William De Morgan pottery Persian amphora vase

Circa 1885 amphora-form centred with flowering vase flanked to either side by a peacock standing on a brick ledge two C-form handles issuing from waisted neck with banded rim the whole painted in shades of cobalt blue turquoise sea green and purple 38.5cm high

A vase of similar design and form is illustrated in The Designs of William De Morgan by Martin Greenwood (page 231 plate 211).
