Selling at auction


When are the auctions held?
Antique and Collectible auctions are held fortnightly on a Saturday, commencing at 10am.
Fine Art picture auctions are held quarterly, commencing at 10.30am

Both auctions are held at 1291 Dumbarton Road, Whiteinch, Glasgow, G14 9UY.

When can I bring items in for valuation and auction?
We are open Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 5pm.

Monday and Friday by appointment only. Please call on 0141 954 1500 to arrange.

We can also arrange home visits for large amounts of items and furniture.

Is there a car park?
We have a small car park which is available to park in when you bring items in for auction.

How are lots catalogued?
We publish a catalogue with lot descriptions and an estimated selling price which is available to view on the internet together with a selection of images, or to buy at the viewing and auction.

How is payment made?
A cheque and invoice are sent out three weeks from the date of the sale.

Buying at Auction


When can I view items to be sold in the forthcoming auction?
Auctions are on view the Friday before the sale from 10am to 6pm and on the morning of the sale from 9am.

How do I bid at auction?
Buyers must have a paddle number to bid, which can be obtained from the upstairs sale office, where you can complete a registration form.
The number you receive can be re-used at each auction.

How long does it take to sell the lots?
We sell between 100 and 150 lots an hour, and run in numerical order. The sale usually finishes around 5pm and we shut promptly after this.
Please ask the office for estimated start times for sections.

Can I purchase tea and coffee?
We have a café on saleday with hot and cold drinks, sandwiches & cakes for purchase.

What is the buyer’s premium?
In addition to the hammer price, buyers pay 16% commission plus VAT on this commission.

What methods of payment are accepted?
We accept cash, debit cards, credit cards (credit cards are subject to a 3% surcharge), cheques covered by a cheque guarantee card, bankers draft or bank transfer.

When can I collect items purchased at auction?
Goods can be collected on the day of the sale as soon as they have been paid for, or within two working days of the auction unless by prior arrangement. We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. If you have furniture to collect you must be here by 4.30pm.
Please bring your own packing materials.

We are not able to offer a packing and shipping service, however Mail Boxes Etc specialize in packing and shipping smaller items (under 30kg). They will collect, professionally pack and despatch your purchases by the most suitable and cost efficient method to any UK or international address.

Is there disabled access to the auction room?
We have a ramp going into the downstairs saleroom, where some of the furniture is sold. Unfortunately there is no access to the upper saleroom due to the construction of the building. If you would like to look at any of the lots on sale we can arrange to bring them downstairs for you to view.

Is there a car park?
On a auction day the car park can be used for loading only. There is unrestricted parking on the main road and surrounding roads.

Please do not park in Palladium Place directly next door to us as this is a private parking area.
