Droit de Suite/Artists Re-sale Rights
This symbol ** indicates works which may be subject to the Droit de Suite or Artist’s Re-sale Rights, which took effect in United Kingdom on 14th February 2006.
Under this legislation auctioneers and art market professionals are required to collect royalty payments for all works of art sold over the hammer price of 1000 euros (approx £680), where the artist is still living.
This royalty of 4% of the hammer price will be charged to the buyer, in addition to the buyers premium. This royalty charge is not subject to VAT.
All royalty charges are paid to the Design and Artists Copyrights Society (DACS) and no handling costs or additional fees are retained by the auctioneer.
Please note that the royalty payment is calculated on the rate of exchange at the European Central Bank on the date of the sale.
Further information on Droit de Suite can be obtained from DACS on 0845 410 3410 or their website www.dacs.org.uk
